Work
De Keyzers way of working is characterized by his effective use of Flash Mode. He doesn't stage his pictures, but accentuate his photos by using light in a different way. His pictures often look staged, but they aren't. According to his own statement, he would not even take an annoying coke tin away of a table. He would either take the picture with the thin, or would not even take the picture. He has set this limit consciously to himself, because otherwise would exist constantly the danger to justify changes for a picture.
Carl De Keyzer has published 11 books, inter alia India. In his book 'India' i found my first inspiration for our project 'View Point'.
Over three journeys De Keyzer has taken a lot of beautiful pictures, which are reporting a different picture of the country. Normally we see a negative, alarming vision when we hear India, but he has managed to balance out the problems of this country and the optimisms of the people who continue to smile.
